Having a “default” twitter background really doesn’t just the mustard these days. Its much like not having a profile picture on your Facebook account… sad.

This evening I finally sorted both my Hypermiler (@hypermiler_mpg) and Make Biofuel (@make_biofuel_uk) twitter backgrounds out and oh what a difference. Just having my full logo on my twitter page makes me feel warm and fuzz inside, a bit like wearing your wife’s ugg boots but without the sweaty feet!

Now they just need to find a way to force it to show on mobile devices!

I’ve always been a keen “environmentalist”, so Hypermiler.co.uk was an nice extension of my personal website portfolio and also a way of helping me save a few quid in fuel.

The SEO on the site had always been hit and miss, especially with the complexities of Joomla to contend with. When I finally decided to take the plunge and move over to Wordpress I didn’t realise the work involved.

Countless hours and many late nights early mornings (like tonight) later it finally looked half decent and in a workable state.The problem being that I lost many of my inbound links as the articles had been renamed. Instead of many hours of .htaccess updating rules I decided to simply jump into getting the content improved.

Since posting in Wordpress is infinitely easier than in Joomla (esp with the Iphone app) I hit the ground running, news articles, informational pages and products reviews flew up to the site on a daily basis. That coupled with the introduction of Twitter and Facebook proved to draw even more “would be” Hypermilers to the website.

In the last couple of weeks I have seen my inbound links shoot upwards faster than oil prices together with google rankings. This could be partly due to the fuel price crisis that is gripping the world but I would prefer to take the credit if its all the same with you!

Many will agree that there is no such thing as a silver SEO bullet, all that’s needed is a little hard work, a lot of sleepless nights and a endless supply of coffee and google keyword alerts.

Now if only my Google Adsence earnings improved at the same rate!

I’ve been meaning to do a blog for endif for many moons, not only to keep my customers up to date with that’s happening in the world of endif but also to enable me to pen my inner most thoughts.
